LT Podcast 005 // Grant by Lobster Theremin

The next Lobster Theremin podcast comes from West Coast producer, Grant, who will be gracing our Mörk sublabel later in the year with a 3LP of his signature warm house and vintage-sounding rolling 4/4 jams. There's even a proper Gatecrasher piano 'n' violins number in there, proper 90's bizz incoming! With his LA imprint The Lauren Bacall firing on all cylinders, and his newly enshrined Temporary State label mixing up a woozy mix of clean 'n' clattering house-infused techno we decided it time to let him loose in the mix. 60 minutes of clean, rolling and sunshine-lased house to hopefully kick off the European summertime. ⛅ >> @grant-la-1 >> @temporary-state >> @the-lauren-bacall

Gazatech "I'm Okay" - Boiler Room Debuts by BOILER ROOM

Today’s Debut casts a spotlight over the enchanting city of Moscow — where Russian label Private Persons cut the ribbon, launching with some lackadaisical electronic sounds. Having released via 1080p and Black Opal amongst others, American producer Gazatech kicks off the label's proceedings with I’m Okay. Title track "I'm Okay" paves ways as the release's strongest. Somnambulistic horns and lethargic synth work drift over tight snares and submerged percussion — while melancholic vocals ring in the distance. “I’m Okay” floats lazily and effortlessly. Perfect for those hazy post-club. I’m Okay touches down on 15th September. Pre-order it here. Lazy horns & slumberous synth work drift over tight snares and submerged percussion with melancholic vocals ringing in the distance. “I’m Okay” floats effortlessly – perfect for those hazy mornings after you’ve just got back in. “I’m Okay” touches down on September 15th.

HAWAII009 // Mood J - Turn Your Love Around by Lobster Theremin

Hiding slightly out of plain sight, Australian producer Mood J has been secretly crafting lush house jams for the last half decade bubbling just under the visible surface. With the artist and Asquith having briefly touched base at the beginning of the label's journey, it took only a chance encounter in a Ballarat bungalow in 2016 to reignite the flames of the artist-label relationship. Jimmy surprisingly bumping into Jon (Mood J), as he was Daze's housemate in Aus, whilst the Lobster crew were on tour there. Mood J's hard drive was stashed with archive of warm, sizzling, analogue studio tracks cooked to the nines, and so here we are just over 14 months later with the full epic debut in hand. The edits-y anthem Turn Your Love Around kicks things off in huge fashion with a stomping & heaving flip of a proper classic. Arrangement never felt so tight and this one rides heftily into the night. NY Vibration follows, smoothing things out with a lolloping New York house twist layered with rippling, resonant deep haus pads, searing top lines and an easy spoken word. The flip kicks off with The Arps, a skittering hat skater with an ascending, descending and cascading arp line that hisses with sea spray and hot evenings in central Victoria. Providing the last hurrah of the night we have Moonlight Drive. Summer heartbreak captured in a single moment and a slap bass. A melancholy Juno riding over a hint of twinkling optimism, saying that it's not over yet. >> @mood-j

Tlim Shug - Rari Techno by Bobby Donny

The Bobby Donny label hits number four with a first EP of 2016. After efforts from label owner Frits Wentink and Eindhoven producer SAN2, this one comes from Tlim Shug. The low-profile American producer has only one EP to his name so far, but it was an impressive one that came on Echovolt Records last year and suggested he has a passion for moody and lo-fi deep house. 'Rari Techno' is up first and operates in an underground cavern. It sets a sombre tone with its swirling pads and buried deep kicks all obscured by a grainy sheen of dust. That analogue warmth continues with 'Wig $plit' which has a loose and raw percussive line laid over tender piano chords, bumpy drums and a gritty vocal rap. It’s a fresh fusion that will get clubs on their toes before 'Mutuality' again sounds all knackered and broke, scuffed up and imperfect with its squelchy synths, off time hits and stuttering kicks. Last of all 'Overcaste Tune' is another zoned out and moody deep house offering that sounds like L.I.E.S. artist Terekke at his best. This is a brilliantly insular and atmospheric EP that oozes subtle emotion and a cautious sense of optimism.
